Good Skin Knowledge: A Story That Travels

A lesson about skin health can travel far beyond a classroom. For the American Academy of Dermatology, the opportunity was to show donors and members how Good Skin Knowledge turns trusted information into confidence, understanding, and possibility for young people.

Service

Nonprofit video production

Format

Documentary, photography, and report design

Focus

Donor impact storytelling

The Challenge

Good Skin Knowledge gives schools, community groups, and after-school programs free, dermatologist-approved lessons about common skin, hair, and nail conditions. The Academy needed more than program statistics. It needed a story that could show how one lesson reaches a child, travels home to a family, and strengthens a community.

Our Approach

Key Ideas followed the lesson into classrooms in Harlem and the Bronx. By documenting the energy of the activities, the trust between educators and students, and the moments when information became personal, the production kept students and community educators at the center while positioning the Academy as the guide that equips them.

What We Delivered

  • Story strategy and interview development
  • Documentary video production in New York City
  • Classroom photography in the Bronx
  • Editing and post-production
  • Donor impact report design and editorial integration
  • Social and campaign-ready visual assets

A lesson about skin health can travel far beyond a classroom.

The Outcome

The integrated film, photography, and report gave the Academy one consistent donor story across multiple formats. Good Skin Knowledge reached 16,500 children in more than 80 communities; Key Ideas’ role was to make that impact visible, human, and memorable so the story could keep working across presentations, fundraising conversations, and future communications.
