There is nothing more powerful than your story. No matter your industry, you must effectively communicate your story in order to be competitive. Storytelling is an art and it takes practice, but we can help you get started. Our Founder and Chief Storysmith, Carlos Maestas, is ready to headline your next company retreat or Lunch and Learn with his talk, Storytelling that Moves People. Authentic storytelling, simplifying your message, and storytelling through video are a few topics covered in this 1-hour presentation or 4-hour workshop that aims to help you start taping in to equity of your story.

Authentic storytelling, simplifying your message, and storytelling through video.

1-hour Presentation

The Storytelling that Moves People presentation is ideal for large-scale gatherings, like conferences, or those looking for a quick information session about how to tap in to the equity of your organization’s story. You’ll walk away with the knowledge of: how to be an authentic storyteller and why that is important to the success of your nonprofit or business; how to simplify your message to make sure your audience walks away remembering what you want them to know; and the benefits of using video storytelling to spread your company’s mission and get in front of new audiences. We’ve presented for a wide variety of organizations including: San Antonio Area Foundation, American Fundraising Professionals – San Antonio and Nashville, Nonprofit Council of San Antonio, Hill Country Foundation, Tesoro Leadership Program, East Texas Center for Nonprofits, Medical Society Fundraising Network, Leadership SAISD, and San Antonio Museum of Art.

4-hour Workshop

The Storytelling that Moves People workshop is ideal for smaller groups of people from the same organization. Ideally we like to have representatives of the organization and people who are passionate about the organization like donors, volunteers, board members, clients, etc. present for the workshop. During the 4-hour workshop, your team will experience the presentation and join in several activities to help better understand how your organization is sharing their story and the messaging behind it. Our Key Ideas team will help your company or nonprofit: establish messaging goals, evaluate messaging challenges, simplify current messaging, develop new messaging to influence emotion and inspire action, create a story bank, and more. In addition, after the workshop, you will receive a comprehensive recommendations document which includes: identifying key words/messaging to be used, including hashtags and social media campaigns if needed, a yearly communication and outreach plan, website and branding evaluation/suggestions, a story back summary, and a two-week social media plan. We’ve conducted workshops for a wide variety of organizations including: Ewing Halsell Foundation, San Antonio B-Cycle, Teach for America, San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, and Project MEND.
